Community Planning Consultant

Lin Montgomery graduated with her BGS in August 1997. She is currently one of 22 Community Planning Consultants working throughout Indiana on the Governor’s Commission for a Drug Free Indiana, a division of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute. Having a Bachelor’s degree qualified her for the position.

Her advice to students: “Diversify. That is what attracted me to this program and what I would recommend for others. The General Studies program allows you to gain education and experience over a larger spectrum and qualifies a person for more positions than the regular, more limited programs. You just really don’t know when or where an opportunity will open up and the General Studies program can best prepare you for every opportunity.”

Why she originally selected General Studies: “Because I did not know what I really wanted to do and didn’t want to limit my possibilities. I may not be an expert in one area, but I have a much better grasp of a lot of areas and believe I am a better asset to my employer because of that.”
